New Sermon Series: “I Never Said That”
January 26 – February 23
We’ve been exploring what it means to apprentice with Jesus, and a significant part of that journey is understanding what Jesus actually said. Jesus was the wisest person who ever lived, and his teachings guide us toward a life of true fullness and purpose. But just as important as knowing what Jesus said is recognizing what he didn’t say.
Too often, Jesus is misquoted, and phrases that sound wise get attributed to him. You’ve probably heard some of these: “A stitch in time saves nine,” “Cleanliness is next to godliness,” or “When God closes a door, He opens a window.” They might sound biblical, but spoiler alert—they’re not!
In our upcoming sermon series, I Never Said That, we’ll unpack five common phrases often attributed to Jesus that he never said:
- “God helps those who help themselves.”
- “God won’t give you more than you can handle.”
- “Ask Jesus into your heart.”
- “Money is the root of all evil.”
- “Love the sinner, hate the sin.”
While these statements may seem wise on the surface, they can lead us away from the life God truly intends for us when taken out of context.
Join us as we separate fact from fiction and discover the deeper truths of Jesus’ words. I Never Said That begins Sunday, January 26—don’t miss it!
