Mrs. Byrum believes “Music is eternal. Eternal is a forever word and most students who stick with learning the skill of a musical instrument are forever grateful”. Julie has been playing the piano for 52 years, teaching for 18 years. She cites her gratitude to her parents for providing her the opportunity to explore her musical talents.
Ms. Aronson has played the flute since she was ten years old. After majoring in Flute/Music education, Sherry has been part of Ward’s Music Department since 1980. She is a member of the Michigan Flute Orchestra playing the bass flute and looks forward to another year of teaching.
Mrs. Cieslak has taught classical piano and organ for eleven years in the Ward Music School, as well as privately in the Northville and Livonia communities for students ranging in age from four to 85 years old. Her experience includes being a piano teacher, church organist, and accompanist for Northville High School choirs with her most recent education being under Dr. Carole Halmekangas. Many of her students have received Superior ratings at Federation and/or I ratings at Solo and Ensemble. Her piano curriculum includes foundations in Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary music, a solid foundation in music theory, and proper piano technique. Private lessons provide the opportunity for Joyce to personalize instruction to each student's needs and capabilities.
Ms. VanNoord understands music as communicating without words. She enjoys helping individuals of all ages understand and love music through learning to play the piano. With many years of experience, Ellen has discovered ways to motivate her students to learn and then enjoy their ability. Music is a gift that can be used their entire lives.
