Season of Giving Offering

Living a holy life is to love God and love your neighbor in a way that looks like Christ.

1 Peter 1:13
“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.”

Exodus 12:11
“This is how you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand, and you shall eat it hurriedly. It is the Passover of the Lord.”

Peter was urging them to be ready for the hard work of hoping in Christ.

1 Peter 14-16
“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Hope is a spiritual discipline. Holy living is the outcome of our hope set on Christ.

1 Peter 1:17-19
“Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

We live a holy life, or a different life, because we are being transformed by the holy spirit!

Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

1 Peter 1:22 NIV
“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.”

1 Peter 1:22 MSG
“Now that you’ve cleaned up your lives by following the truth, love one another as if your lives depended on it.”

Living a holy life is to love God and love your neighbor in a way that looks like Christ.

Because we have been saved by grace through Jesus Christ, we are free to be transformed to look more like him.
