On Sundays, March 9, 16 + 23, Ward Church will be collecting non-perishable food and personal items for local pantries. This annual tradition is our opportunity to restock pantry shelves in our backyards and provide the Deacon’s resources to continue supporting local needs.
This year we will be collecting for the Salvation Army of Plymouth, Northville Civic Concern, Help's On The Way in Dearborn and CARES of Farmington Hills. Thank you for blessing so many of our neighbors!
Unused, unopened items from home are fine! But—PLEASE CHECK ALL EXPIRATION DATES, “USE BY” DATES, etc. We cannot distribute any item with an expiration or “use by” date earlier than June 2025.
We’re sure they are delicious, but we cannot distribute homemade items of any kind. And we cannot accept any items where the container has been opened or the seal broken.
Yes, but for items such as paper goods and diapers, ONLY IF these have individually wrapped items or wrapped smaller packs of items that can be broken out for dispersal to those in need.
Please no! It is much more helpful to the organizations distributing the donation items to have 2 or 3 small-to-medium sized jars, containers, cans, or boxes, so they can meet the needs of several families, rather than one huge container that can serve only one family.
Any size is really okay, but the organizations say that larger infant sizes, such as 4-6 months, are especially helpful.
You sure can! Cash is okay, but we can’t provide a receipt. Checks are fine, made payable to Ward Church, with Spring Bounty written on the memo line. Drop in a giving box. You can also donate online.
Sorry, we can’t. But if you need help bringing items into the church from your vehicle, ask for help at the desk at either campus.
Our dedication to giving back to Detroit, the birthplace of Ward Church, has always been closely connected to our collaboration with Central Detroit Christian (CDC). The mission of CDC—to empower individuals, foster positive community opportunities, and love their neighbors as Christ did—has led to a remarkable transformation in an entire neighborhood. With the establishment of a grocery store offering fresh produce, a school, day camps, Bible schools, renovated homes, a church, and much more, we have created a safe haven for our Detroit neighbors. Over the past 30 years, numerous acts of compassion have helped this community thrive.
This Easter season presents us with an amazing opportunity to support CDC through our Easter Offering. Together, we can help eliminate their outstanding mortgage—just $142,000 separates them from achieving an even greater impact in ministry. Imagine the possibilities when this financial burden is lifted, enabling CDC to serve the city with even greater freedom and purpose!
Detroit is a vital part of our history, plays an essential role in our mission today, and will continue to flourish because of CDC for years to come.
Whether with your small group, your family, or on your own, seek new ways to love our neighbors. From March 30 to April 13, join us in putting compassion into action. This season is about cultivating a heart of compassion in our daily lives—looking for opportunities to extend kindness, recognizing the needs around us, and responding as Jesus would. As you serve, we invite you to share your stories of compassion with us—we would love to hear how you’ve experienced and expressed Christ’s love!
If you’re part of a small group, your participation can make an even greater impact. For every small group that completes a Compassion in Action service project and submits a story, the Small Group Ministry will donate $50 to the Easter Offering.
