Thoughtful Theology

We love God with our minds as well as our hearts.

18,720

Minutes dedicated to adapting and teaching theology in a way that connects with our special needs friends.

517

Times our congregation joined in song this year — hymns rooted in the past and new songs for today — across two campuses and two worship styles to proclaim the gospel and draw our hearts closer to Him. Listen to the playlist, a sampling of the songs sang this past year on Sundays.
“I began this year in a "mini" group doing a New Testament reading plan, craving more scripture after the Up series in the Fall. When the Psalm 23 series launched, we opened up our group- and to my surprise, it grew from 5 to 12 women. The structure of weekly verses, questions, and the more personal Dive Deeper sections gave us rich opportunities to grow together in faith and fellowship. I experienced joy in learning more about God and the connections between the Old and New Testament that could even be found in Psalm 23, especially the connection between 2 Samuel 7 and the life of Jesus. Sometimes I described my learnings as "fireworks". Together we learned more about God, loving him more deeply, and loving and encouraging one another.”

Volunteering with Potters Wheel for me has been nothing short of life-changing. I started off about 10 years ago as somewhat of a passive observer and now feel totally ingrained in that culture - building relationships with those in the class, teaching and helping to set a course for future events. While there is a wide range of abilities in that class, we regularly reinforce that not only does Jesus love them, but so do their classmates and the larger community. It is of no surprise to me that the program continues to grow - with class sizes regularly exceeding 100 people. I know of no other program in the community that brings this many people with special needs together and does so in such a way that is supportive, allows our students to tout their successes and reinforces that all of those in our special needs community can live and love like Jesus.

“Unity Church has been able to reach over 1,000 of our neighbors already with the good news of the gospel. We have seen 76 people indicate a decision to follow Jesus in these first 8 months. We have been able to pass out turkeys, provide meals, and clothing for families in our area and within our congregation. We have grown to an average of 53 people coming to Sunday service and many more engaged through the week in discipleship, and our small groups. The Lord has been doing an awesome work in and through us and we really believe he is just getting started. We cannot thank God enough for all he is doing or Ward enough for partnering with us in this great gospel mission!”

"Recently, I went out to a fairly new village, Uayma. My son preached and following the service, we provided hundreds of dollars worth of Bibles and hymn books to people who were so anxious to get them. While eating supper, after having put all the materials back in the car, a man clearly impacted by poverty, came up and asked if the lady who sells Bibles and hymn books was still here. He bought a Bible and hymn book. His son had started coming to church, and although this man could not read, his son could, and he wanted his son to read to him from the hymns and the Bible. His hunger, to know more was very evident. My son, Mark and I drove home, arriving after midnight, thanking the Lord and asking that he use the sermon and all the Bibles and hymn books that were sold to help people to grow in their faith. The support I receive from Ward was used to pay for the gas and the toll road to get to Uayma-thank you!"

“Hand in Hand and Parents Night Out have been incredible additions to our family's support system! When you find out that one of your children is disabled and will therefore be "different" for the rest of their life, you feel like your wheels never stop spinning. As parents, we are always searching for connection with people or groups of people who will embrace our children for who they are. Once we became aware of and connected with Hand in Hand ministries at Ward, we felt comfortable allowing our son to attend Sunday school. Knowing that during services he was not only safe and supervised appropriately, but that he was being loved on, accepted and encouraged to participate, just like any other child would be, has been an enormous blessing. Parents Night Out is something that my husband and I are constantly scouring our emails for :) Being gifted respite PLUS actual quality time with my spouse is something that I could never say "thank you" enough for! The fact that this ministry also embraces our neurotypical child is also an important mention. Providing her with a sense of purpose and allowing her to just be 5 years old and enjoy some time playing with her brother has been beyond precious. We continually brag about our church and its 'special needs ministries' to anyone and everyone in the community who is willing to listen!”

Thank you...

...for partnering with Ward through your gifts, time and prayers.

These stories and numbers are what make the Impact Fund so remarkable and your partnership so needed. What once may have felt like “just another offering” has become a catalyst for grace, hope, and transformation. Because of you, our church is able to step boldly into new opportunities, support vital ministries, and meet needs we cannot anticipate.

Thank you for opening your hands, trusting in God’s provision, and faithfully walking alongside us in mission. Because of your giving, our values have become visible. Our mission has gained momentum. Lives are being changed—in our pews, in our neighborhoods, and across the world.

Let’s continue this spirit of generosity as we look toward the future. The Impact Fund remains our central, ongoing invitation to partner with God’s work every week of the year. Your giving continues to make ministry possible—and meaningful.

With deep gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead,
