Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Pastor Dave Owen

It is with both deep sorrow and profound gratitude that we share the news that Pastor Dave Owen has gone home to be with Jesus. While our hearts grieve the loss of a beloved pastor, mentor, friend, and shepherd, we rejoice in the assurance that he is now in the presence of the Savior he faithfully served throughout his life.

Pastor Dave was born on July 19, 1930, and entered eternal glory on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 95.

A funeral for Pastor Dave’s life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Narthex.

There is perhaps no more beautiful testimony to a life faithfully lived than Pastor Dave’s final chapter. The same week he retired from ministry was the same week he received the diagnosis that would ultimately lead him home. We can only marvel at God’s timing and grace. For decades, Pastor Dave poured himself into God’s mission, and when his earthly work was complete, the Lord gently called His faithful servant home. Truly, his life stands as an example of what it means to live with purpose, serve with humility, and finish well.

Recently, many of us had the opportunity to celebrate Pastor Dave’s retirement and reflect on the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. As stories were shared, Pastors Scott, Terence, Mike, and Wayne all described Dave in the same way: he was a pastor’s pastor. His wisdom, encouragement, and faithful counsel impacted generations of ministry leaders. No matter your age or stage of life, Pastor Dave had a way of making you feel seen, valued, and loved. The smallest acts of kindness brought him so much joy, and his gratitude was contagious. His gentle spirit and deep faith were a gift to every member of our staff and congregation.

His legacy is not measured only by years of service, sermons preached, or ministries led. His true legacy lives in the countless lives he shaped, the birthday songs he sang, his amazing sense of humor, the families he encouraged, and the community he loved so faithfully. Pastor Dave showed us what it means to love Jesus wholeheartedly and to love others with gentleness, grace, and compassion.

We thank God for the gift of Pastor Dave Owen and for the enduring impact of his faithful life. What a treasure he was to our church family. What a testimony he leaves behind. And what a comfort it is to know that he is finally home.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
