Ward Church Outreach 11 months ago

We have the opportunity to be people of blessing; impacting those in our neighborhood, families in the city and others around the world. Ward’s Season of Giving provides a way to do one of these things every two weeks in October and November.

In Our Neighborhood – Coat & Blanket Drive

Please bring your new or gently used coats, jackets and blankets to the Current Focus Kiosk on October 6 and 13. They will be distributed to those in need by our ministry partner, Help’s on the Way, who has assisted thousands of our neighbors who have found themselves in a state of need.

In the City – Christmas Collections for CDC

We are so excited to be able to collect for the CDC Pride for Parents Christmas Store! The store shows love and hope to the community by providing resources that assist families in giving their children clothing and Christmas gifts. The families involved are known to CDC through their outreach programs and must pre-register to shop. They can purchase gifts for their children at 80-90% off the retail price, encouraging empowerment and dignity, not dependence. Proceeds from the sale go back into the development of the store. Each family receives a food basket with the purchase of gifts.

    Specific Items Needed:

    • Toys (sports balls, cars, trucks, crafts, building blocks, culturally appropriate dolls, toddler toys, etc.)
    • New Coat (infant to teen sizes)
    • New Hats and Mittens (winter durable)
    • New Socks (children and adult, women and men variety)
    • New Underwear (children and adult, women and men variety)
    • BIGGEST NEED – Teen gifts (headphones, earbuds, phone cases, make up kits)

All items should be NEW and not gift wrapped. They will be collected at the Current Focus Kiosk on October 20 and 27. Questions may be directed to Troy at tmorris010@gmail.com.

Around the World – Operation Christmas Child

Every 30 seconds a child comes to Christ through a shoebox! You can be part of this amazing ministry of Samaritan’s Purse by filling an empty shoebox with small toys, school supplies, personal hygiene items (no liquids) and $9 to cover shipping. You can truly change a life forever by sharing the love of Christ with a boy or girl in one of three age groups: 2-4; 5-9 or 10-14, and praying for the child’s spiritual, physical and emotional needs. Help us surpass our goal of 1800 shoeboxes! Brochures and empty shoeboxes available at the Current Focus Kiosk October 20 – November 3. Filled shoeboxes due back to Ward Nov. 10 and 17.
